Abandoned in Fontana,California

Got info on this place from a fellow explorer,so being a good 20 mins or so from me I headed out to Fontana,Ca and eye balled the place out to see who was around.

While waiting for about 10 mins to make a run to the entrance I noticed a board start moving and out came a few folks that had been squatting inside,as they proceeded to leave and im assuming head out for the day, they blocked the entrance with boards and some random trash and off they went.I grabbed my gear and headed to the front door moved the wood board and in I was.

(Living facility & to the far right the hospital)

As I entered I wasnt expecting much then a old shell of a building but I was surprised to see alot left behind.

Walking through the first hallways trying to stay quite as not to disturb anyone who may still be inside or surprised by a pipe to the face by some freaked out person I turned into the 1st room I seen and it was a kitchen with alot of pans and plates left behind.

After the kitchen I headed into the next room with what looks like upside down tables which were used for people with wheelchairs

Next I checked out the many other rooms which held offices and medical devices and rooms with beds and personal belongings left behind,by this point I swore I heard foot steps and whispering,I knew I had been to quite for people to know I was there.....

(office)

After room and room of nothing but beds and a chair here and there I was about ready to call it a day but i went on

Heading down the far end of the building there seem to be alot less light in the rooms and I was abit on edge as I heard the crunch of glass a few times as if someone was walking near by. So I proceeded with caution and went on peering into dark room after dark room only seeing slightly silhouetted items left behind.

Next I ended walked into a area that looked more like a old motel of sorts with rooms with numbers and a community room, some of which had rope attached to them as a locking mechanism. This side felt more homely and abit on the sad side.

After walking into the last room I came to a door and stood quite and heard whispers seen a few trash bags with old food wrappings and bottles and new I found whom may of been walking about and whispering.

(I never take anything from places but I really wanted this picture ....)

So I didnt wanna over stay my welcome so headed out, a day or too later my bud went to check the place out and met the guy who was squatting there and said he called himself the unofficial caretaker of the home and said he would ward off all who would be destructive to the property and try and vandalize the property with graffiti. He also mentioned that he was in the process of roping all the doorknobs together so no one could enter the rooms,he then stated that he would try and follow people to see what they were doing and if they were just checking out the place he would leave them be...

Railwalking before shoot

I came to this location early,as I booked a shoot here for a more fitness shoot on the tracks, walked about to check it out for the best points of interest of coarse taking images for myself.I really like the shadow outlining the sofa .

next shot was actually taken before leaving notice no shadow

something about railroad tracks I find interesting could be the trains with all the graffiti or the history of the hobo and riding trains.

Funny thing about grafitti is that many graf artist find abandoned places and do there work in them,I myself love abandoned places and trade with graf artist for locations.

while taking my shots I met a man named Larry who you see in the distance here,I gave him a water and a pepsi he was happy to have them,we chatted abit about life and him being on the street. He came from the long beach area,he then stated that being homeless out in long beach is much different then out here in Riverside, because out there finding a meal and unity among others is easy, easy as in getting by, and its not to hard out there, tho out here In Riverside and the surrounding areas there are so many homeless folks on drugs its hard to find trust worthy people and everyone thinks your a druggy out here.He also stated that he wasnt at all without flaws,he himself was in fact a recovering drug addict and traveling and trying to help others out in his travels. He then pulled out what he called his Obama phone which was dying and said "well things could be worse" he smiled and said have a good day and shook my hand.

(he was on his way to check in with a homeless couple to see if they needed anything or if he could help with anything)

Has I walked away I got a nose full and spotted this poor fellow dead on a mond of dirt

after this my shoot was over and went on my way home,on the way home I pass the biggest paper cup in the world.

There is always something

There is always something to shoot no matter where you are,I no to some photographers they only shoot one thing one style but to me if you shoot abit of everything it opens you up to new ways of shooting. On this day i found myself waiting for a few clients to come to the near by rose garden, and as I waited I started to look at the trees near by and took a few shots.Stepping outside can offer an array of shots just take of the lens cap and start shooting.

Science fair and photography Museum

Went to the science fair downtown Riverside to see what it was like,it was abit muggy and was more aimed towards the little ones tho my daughter would of said the same thing i was saying BORING so me and my wife ended up going into the photography museum for the 1st time,Funny ive tried to go a few times before and it was always closed.Happy to have finally went in and got to see some Ansel Adams images, one from manzanar camp which many do not now he photographer unless youve been to Manzanar, seeing his work and that image really made my night. Why find the label Terminal island and the memorial of terminal island post the many people of that island where sent to Manzanar funny how all this things sort of feel into my way.It is very interesting has I was only at terminal island to photograph abandoned places but found the memorial and which led me to manzanar.

Ok so now im rambling on heres a few shots from the night
